
EMERALD’S B-grade team narrowly missed an outright in its win against Tooradin on Saturday, again dominating by excellent bowling.
Having bowled Tooradin out for 99 last week the Bombers resumed in a precarious position of 4/63 and got off to a bad start as they fell to 6/68.
Then Mark Alenson and Andrew Ferrier steadied the Bombers as they brought the score to 87 before Ferrier was out.
Emerald passed the required 99 at eight wickets down, just after Alenson was out for 46.
Clinton Marsh and Rod Smith got together and put on a superb last-wicket partnership of 88. Marsh again stared with the bat scoring 74 not out while Smith made 21.
After 69 overs Emerald had posted 190.
The Bombers then had 32 overs to bowl at Tooradin to try and grab an unlikely outright victory, but fell just short.
Clinton Marsh, with 3/20 and Andrew Ferrier 2/20, got Emerald off to a great start then Rod Smith and Euan Thoms continued as the Bombers managed to pick up wickets at regular intervals to see Tooradin’s score 9/81 after the 32 overs.
Smith was again the pick of the bowlers snaring 3/10 from nine overs.

Having already picked up first-innings points last week by bowling Beaconsfield out for 36, the Bombers went in search of an outright.
Glen Maunder got Emerald off to a good start with a wicket in the second over.
Although the Bombers had to work harder for their wickets than the week before the outright victory was never really in doubt.
Maunder again bowled beautifully collecting 4/16 from his 12.1 overs and was well supported by Aaron Cameron who got 2/24 and Jarrod Gillespie as he gathered 2/33 off 11 overs.
Beaconsfield was bowled out in the 47th over for 112 to see the Bombers pick up an outright victory.

Thanks to a good innings from Derek Scott and Lucas McGann last week, the Bombers were able to post 282.
This week the Bombers continued on their winning way as they bowled Cranbourne Meadows out for 50.
Andrew Rolfs, with 4/6 off eight overs and Adam Failla 2/9 off nine got Emerald off to a great start with the score falling to 6/19.
Derek Scott continued off the good work from the openers to pick up 3/6 off seven overs and Warwick Marsh claimed 1/11.

Chasing down Devon Meadows’ target of 149, the Bombers resumed at 1/23 and got off to a solid start with Daniel Carlton and Mick Van Leewen.
The first wicket fell at 43 and then Chris Alenson joined Van Leewen and the pair put the Bombers into a winning position at 3/129.
Alenson was out for 18 in the 44th over, but from there Van Leewen was able to build partnerships to see the Bombers over the line with five wickets in hand.
After the victory target was reached, the Bombers lost quick wickets to be all out for 159. During that time Van Leewen was out after a brilliant innings of 89.

Playing a 20/20 game against Upper Beaconsfield the Bombers batted first and got off to an indifferent start.
The score fell to 7/28 after just six overs, but then good innings from Tim Robinson, Ang Pepi, and Dave Barlow saw Emerald reach the competitive score of 115 after batting only 16 overs.
In reply, Emerald got off to a great start to have Upper Beaconsfield 4/16, but from there the Bombers were batted out of the game and they managed to pass the score in the 15th over five wickets down.
Ang Pepi was the best bowler with 3/26 while Robinson also bowled well with 2/22 off his four overs.

Emerald posted 137 last week against Pakenham Upper and this week struggled with the ball as it made 164 off its 40 overs.
Cailen Parker and Tom Baldock bowled good opening spells, but were both unable to get the breakthrough.
Chris Wynne bowled a good eight-over spell to collect 1/19 and the other wicket takers were Baldock and Parker.

After restricting Beaconsfield to 136 last week the Bombers came out to bat and got off to a good start with Mike Collins making 24.
Trent Rolfs batted well at number-three making 11, but then the Bombers lost a steady steam of wickets to be all out in the 34th over for 70.

Last week the Bombers restricted Upper Beaconsfield to 56 and this week the Red’s batsmen did their job well to post 6/140 off their 40 overs.
Dylan Harris, with 22, Paul White, 23, Fraser Burns, 30 retired and Mikey Dompietro, 12 not out, all batted well to see the Reds chalk up another victory.

The previous week saw Nar Nar Goon post 106 off its 40 overs and this week the Bombers just managed to get over the line in a close victory.
Kieran Burns, 16, Callum Sawyer, 14, Nathan Bounds, 12 and Cody Chasteau, 12, all contributed as Emerald won with only two overs remaining.

Chasing down the 81 set last week by Nar Nar Goon, the Bombers recovered from a slow start to record a thrilling victory.
Jeremy Davies and Kallum Braid-Ball with 19 and 22 were the best batsmen as the final margin was only two runs.
