PUFFING Billy CEO Andrew Stephens is inviting everyone to come to the Gembrook market on 27 August by travelling from Belgrave, Emerald, Lakeside or Cockatoo on Puffing Billy.
The Puffing Billy Railway congratulates Gembrook Market on the celebration of its first birthday.
Rules for stallholders require goods to be locally made or reworked and this provides unique produce and products for those who visit.
It is a great boost to the local economy and provides an excellent attraction for Melburnians to visit this beautiful part of Victoria and purchase goods with a local flavour. There are also some educational stalls in the market.
Visitors can catch the train from Belgrave at 10am, Emerald at 10.40am, Lakeside at 11.05am and Cockatoo at 11.19am and travel through the rolling hills and farmland at the Gembrook end of the railway.
Visitors can then have lunch, coffee and other treats in Gembrook, visit the market, buy souvenirs from the Puffing Billy station and then return on the train departing Gembrook at 3.28pm.
This allows time to walk to the magnificent trees in Gembrook Park, visit the Car Museum, browse through the shops in the main street or have a picnic in the park. The market operates on the fourth Sunday of every month, excluding December.
Take the puff out of getting there
