A BUMPER crop of young athletes is preparing to represent Monbulk College at the State Cross Country Championships this Friday.
Five Year seven students qualified for the championships after filling out the top five places in the U13 division of the Eastern Zone Cross Country day, on Friday, 20 July.
Nick Keegan orchestrated the Monbulk College assault on the Warringal Parklands course in Heidelberg, leading in Lachlan Meadows, Matt Taylor, Tye Frazzetto and Corey Phillips.
Keegan also won the U13 Age Champion medal at the school’s athletics day at Knox Athletics track on Thursday, 26 July.
The formidable quintet of runners has made quite an impression on the school’s sporting landscape during their first year on campus, with the five boys lending their athletic talents to a variety of different activities.
Meanwhile, Year 11 student Jake Ryan also qualified for the State Championships by winning the U21 division.
Ryan will be looking to provide the necessary leadership to drive his younger schoolmates towards success. The State Cross Country Championships will be held at Bundoora Park, Bundoora on Friday, 3 August.
