EMERALD’S annual Winterfest is expected to draw a bumper crowd of 10,000 to the hills on Sunday.
This year the festival will mark its 15-year milestone as the largest one-day event in the Dandenong Ranges.
Festival goers will be on the edge of their seats with the emergency services demonstration set to be the highlight of the festival.
In 2007 the crowd witnessed a mock aeroplane crash rescue involving the town’s SES, CFA, and police. This year promises another spectacle, but people will have to come and watch to find out what it is.
The infamous Mad Macca staged hold-up of Puffing Billy is also set to be a major drawcard.
With a loot of chocolate coins to throw to the crowd, Mad Macca and his gang will make fiends with the locals before being chased away by police.
Visitors and locals can see the show in action at 11.15am and again at 1.15pm.
The festival will have 130 stalls, live bands, free face painting, and amusement rides.
Displays include military vehicles, steam engines, and an animals-on-the-move section.
Visitors and local residents will also have the chance to parade their beloved fury friends in the Pet Parade.
The festival is on Sunday 27 July from 9am to 4pm.
