TWO hills groups will restore aspects of their history with the help of local government cash.
Emerald Railway Station and Gembrook Memorial Hall have shared in nearly $6000 in funding for restoration works.
The Shire of Cardinia has announced the grants as part of the annual heritage funding program.
The Emerald Tourist Railway Board has received $2500 to help with repairs and the restoration of Emerald Station.
The $7500 project will include work at the station house at Emerald.
A railway board spokeswoman said the funds would be used for the interior of the building.
The house is the only original building left at the railway and holds great historical significance.
Meanwhile, the Gembrook Craft Group has received $3410 towards the restoration of the banner at the town hall, which was created in the 1930s.
Ranges Ward councillor Graeme Legge said the funding was one way that the council could help to ensure the long-term protection and conservation of important landmarks.
