ABSTRACT artist Karl Huecherig has returned to the Dandenongs for his third solo exhibition.
Back by popular demand, Huecherig has been chosen as the Artist of the Month at the Lady Hawke Café in Mt Dandneong.
The month-long exhibition simply titled ‘3’ is a selection of abstract paintings which feature an amazing use of colour and other methods of expression.
“It (the exhibition) explores happiness and joy while delving into the darker themes of chaos, frustration, entanglement and remorse,” Huecherig said.
For years Huecherig has made his name as a metalsmith and sculptor.
He has many talents including the ability to create jewellery and is a metal costume designer.
Huecherig’s work can often be found at Mont De Lancey Homestead in Wandin where this abstract creator teaches the art of blacksmithing.
He says his passion for metal work and sculpture was an extension of his formal training in aircraft manufacturing. However, in the past four years Huecherig has turned his hand toward abstract art and painting.
His latest work is an extension of his journey into painting and explores different mediums, textures and finishes. The exhibition started on 1 August and runs until 31 August at the Lady Hawke Café, 1365 Mt Dandenong Tourist Road, Mt Dandenong.
Art critics will also have the chance to meet Huecherig on Friday at ‘a night with the artist’ at the café from 6pm. More information is available by calling the café on 9751 1104.
