A picture of colour

ANNE Taylor’s garden is like an artist’s palate with colours of almost every shade in bloom.
The Emerald green thumb and artist is opening her garden to the public for the first time.
Mrs Taylor has been putting off the day she opened her garden for almost three years.
“I kept getting asked but I refused. I caved in this year,” she said.
It’s not surprising Mrs Taylor steered away from opening, as it is a big job to prepare. Hills people will not be disappointed by this magnificent garden.
There is plenty to admire, from the large tulips to a tranquil pond and boardwalk.
The two-and-a-half acre garden also features an array of roses, a number of exotics and some indigenous vegetation.
But the Taylor garden has not always looked such a picture.
It has taken more than 12 years for Anne and her husband Rob to turn three paddocks where horses used to graze into an amazing patch of heaven.
Mrs Taylor said she would not have been able to pull it off without her passion for gardening and art.
She said a garden was like a blank canvas to an artist – it had so many possibilities.
The garden will be opened on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 November, and again on Tuesday 4 November (Melbourne Cup Day) from 10am to 4.30pm, 67 Ferres Road, Emerald.
