DOROTHY McVay’s ties with Healesville made her an obvious choice for Healesville Primary School’s inaugural Arts Day.
Mrs McVay is a prominent artist and art teacher who lived and worked in Healesville before moving to Chirnside Park.
Most importantly, she has two grandchildren at Healesville Primary School.
Madison and William share her love of painting and on Friday, 14 November they will have an opportunity for a very special show-and-tell when Mrs McVay joins other artists for the Arts Day.
Artists involved in visual and performing arts will take part in the event, demonstrating their craft to students and visiting community members.
“Students will be able to share in the experiences as the artists demonstrate their skills, enthusiasm and passion for their art forms,” said Arts Committee member and art teacher Lillian Walsh.
“The day is designed to promote an awareness, understanding and appreciation of the arts within our community.”
Over the course of the day, Mrs McVay said she would take her audience from the very first steps in producing a painting through to the finished work.
Visitors must check in at the school office.
For further details phone the school on 5962 4053.
