Grants for memorials

AS Victorians marked the 90th anniversary of Armistice Day last week, the State Government announced grants to restore war memorials.
The program helps communities to preserve memorials which have been built to honour service, valour and sacrifices made by ordinary Australians for their country.
Local community groups, RSLs and councils can apply for grants up to $10,000.
Premier John Brumby said the program helped people to not only honour the memory of those who served but to better appreciate the impact of war on Victorian communities. Applications are now open until Monday 16 February and can be made by logging onto www.grants.dpcd.vic.gov.au.
