A COCKATOO man is recovering after sustaining head injuries in an unprovoked attack on the weekend.
The 50-year-old man was assaulted by two motorcyclists in the early hours of Friday 28 November.
The incident happened on Woori Yallock Road, Cockatoo, when the victim waved down and two men and tried to talk to them.
Constable Travis O’Donnell, of Pakenham Police, said one man was riding a trail bike and the other was on a monkey bike.
He said the two riders approached and assaulted the victim before fleeing from the scene.
The two men were last seen heading towards Mountain Road.
Const O’Donnell said the offenders were seen riding in the area an hour before the incident with people on another two motorbikes and a driver work ute.
Police are also calling for a woman who may have witnessed the attack to come forward. She is believed to be in her late teens.
An ambulance spokeswoman said the man suffered bruising and swelling to his face and sustained a cut on the forehead, which was attended to by paramedics.
The victim was treated at the scene before being conveyed to the Angliss Hospital in a stable condition.
