Chance to meet PM

By Tania Martin
This comes as the Federal Government’s community cabinet arrives in Emerald.
The cabinet is held every four to five weeks in metropolitan and regional locations across the country.
Parliamentary secretary to the Prime Minister, Anthony Byrne, said the cabinet visits had been enormously popular as many residents relished the chance to meet and hear from the government.
“So far, almost 5,500 people have attended 11 meetings and more than 700 attendees have met with the Prime Minister or ministers to discuss issues,” he said.
Mr Byrne said this cabinet meeting was at a critical time when local families were feeling the pressure of the global economic crisis.
“We will be in Emerald to discuss the issues that matter most to our community issues such as the bushfire recovery efforts and the importance of tourism and the environment,” he said.
The meeting to be held at Emerald Secondary College, Belgrave-Gembrook Road, on Tuesday 19 May from 6pm, is only available for those who registered by last Friday 8 May.
