Angliss Hospital to hit top gear

UPPER Ferntree Gully’s Angliss Hospital will welcome the best in new equipment, following a $664,600 boost.
The cash was part of a $2.9 million State Government announcement for new medical technology at Eastern Health.
Angliss Hospital site and clinical operations chief Alison Patrick said their cash would be used in the surgical, emergency, maternity and critical care areas.
“The new equipment will support staff in providing the best possible care for our patients,” Ms Patrick said.
New theatre equipment will include central sterilising units, a microscope for use in ophthalmology and ear, nose and throat services and post-operative pain relief devices.
Maternity additions include phototherapy lights to treat babies with jaundice and cardiotocograph machines, which electronically monitor a baby’s heart rate during pregnancy and labour.
The emergency and critical care areas will benefit from new electrocardiograph interpretive units, which provide information about heart rhythms and functions.
Premier John Brumby announced the cash at Box Hill Hospital on 8 February.
