A NIGHT out on the town with a twist will definitely be on offer at Emerald’s The Gem theatre this month.
GEMCO Players latest theatrical brilliance, Bouncers and Shakers, will take to the stage on 16 April.
It will amuse many self-confessed ‘party animals’ as it takes a look at life on the clubbing circuit.
Bouncers and Shakers features two back-to-back comedy-drama plays set in a night club, featuring eight of the region’s best talent.
The play is written by John Godber and Jane Thornton and is directed by Tanya Barnes.
Godber is a renowned English dramatist who is revered for his innovative theatre and observational comedies with an edge.
The Gem will be transformed in a popular night spot for the plays and patrons are urged to get on their ‘glad rags’ and become a ‘clubber’ for the evening.
‘Bouncers’ is an outrageous and hilarious parody of the disco scene and follows four bouncers portraying more than 20 different characters.
‘Shakers’ is also wickedly funny and gives the audience a glimpse of a trendy cocktail bar by four long-suffering waitresses depicting an array of customers.
From the check-out girls to the chinless wonders, yuppies and local lads, this play takes a side-splitting look at night life.
The fast paced scenes and vast character changes promise to take audiences on a thrilling, high energy journey of the working class underworld of disco culture.
Bouncers and Shakers will premiere on 16 April at 8pm, Kilvington Drive in Emerald.
Shows will also be held on 17, 22, 23 and 24 April.
Tickets are now on sale and cost $24 for adults, $20 for concession cardholders and for groups of 10 or more it will cost $20 per ticket.
Bookings can be made by calling 0411 723 530 or by logging onto www.gemcoplayers.org.
