BUNNY champions Judi and Bryce Inglis need help saving the cute and cuddly animals from death row.
The Olinda couple are running a bunny orphanage and need donations for the centre to continue.
They rescue and re-homing pet rabbits in order to save them from being euthanised.
But it’s something they never expected to be doing.
It all started more than eight years ago when a bunny hopped into their back yard.
At the time they didn’t know what to do but they soon learned.
Just a week later a second rabbit found its way into the Inglises’ yard.
They nursed the underweight bunnies back to health and saw it as a sign they should be doing more to help.
Mrs Inglis said they started visiting animal shelters and soon discovered there were many bunnies that needed assistance.
They started their bunny orphanage but the centre continued to grow which led them to move from their home in Glen Waverley to Olinda in April last year. “We never expected to fall in love with them (the bunnies) but we did,” Mrs Inglis said.
They now take in orphaned bunnies or those that have been left at shelters saving them from being euthanised.
“We have found a number of bunnies at shelters who would face being put down because there was no money to de-sex or vaccinate them,” Mrs Inglis.
It was this that opened her heart to the furry creatures.
The Olinda-based Rabbit Run-Away Orphanage, takes in bunnies from shelters, vaccinates and de-sexing them before finding them a new home.
The Inglises currently have 16 orphans that need a home.
Each bunny costs $45 to adopt.
The couple are also calling for donation to help continue the project.
