OKISA Hair and Beauty staff believe in a commitment to excellence.
Their hairdressing experience is reflective of overseas experience and their own local funky flavour.
They consider themselves progressive but not over the top.
Established in 1999, the Olinda salon is now under new ownership with all new staff who have a combined experience of more than 60 years.
Okisa staff specialise in style cutting, blow waving, hydrating scalp massage and essential oil hair wrap, colouring, foils, GHD straightening and curls, dreadlocks, hair ups and formal makeup.
They also offer catered sessions for wedding parties featuring a choice of platters and wines, which is unique to the Olinda area.
Jo is Okisa’s home grown local girl and has worked in the hair dressing profession for 14 years.
She has had specialist colour technician training and she specialises in cuts, colouring and foils.
Natasha has 23 years’ experience in hairdressing and is professionally trained in makeup.
Her experience in the makeup industry extends to working in television and film.
Michaela has worked in London and has styled hair for stars such as Paul McCartney and John Cleese.
Clients are treated to a range of coffee, cakes, chocolates and have a choice of the latest magazines to read and get ideas from.
“It’s a really personalised service that we offer, like a boutique salon,” owner Tony Hodges said.
“It’s all about the client’s comfort rather than getting in as many people as we can.”
Okisa hairdressers listen to their clients to ensure they are happy with the result.
“We go out of our way to give them what they want or what’s best for them,” Tony said.
Okisa Hair and Beauty dressing is open Tuesday to Saturday with late nights Thursday and Friday.
Bookings are generally required, especially for after hours appointments.
Okisa is holding an open night on 11 June from 3pm to 9pm. The event is catered and all are welcome to attend for a free consultation.
