TWO unsuspecting eligible hills tradesmen have been put in the spotlight as part of a national dating competition.
The dateless best mates Peter Koski, 39, of Belgrave South and Menzies Creek’s Craig Kozina, 38, were recently approached by a women’s magazine.
Mr Koski, a carpenter, was chosen by the magazine to go in a national Tradie Wants a Lady dating competition.
He was shocked but thought it might be fun to give it a try.
Mr Koski also dragged his South Belgrave Football Club team mate along for the ride.
The boys were the only two to be chosen to represent Victoria.
They said it was a great chance to look for love.
The magazine has searched the nation for the competition to choose the top 10 most eligible tradies. Women last week got the chance to go online to vote for the tradesman of their dreams.
Similar to the popular reality television series, The Bachelor, the tradies will now choose their two favourite ladies from the entries.
They will then take the women on a romantic getaway together and go on a series of dates.
Mr Koski is never short of a one-liner and loves to make women laugh. “If you can’t share a laugh, you can’t share a life,” he told the magazine.
Mr Koski lives on two hectares near Belgrave South and hopes to find the woman of his dreams.
He’s looking for someone who is ‘easy on the eye’ and who has a sense of humour.
“I like all women, but I’m especially partial to Asian women,” Mr Koski said.
Mr Kozina, a boiler maker, is still finding his feet on the dating scene after more than 17 years of marriage.
He is looking for someone who is both fun and affectionate.
Mr Kozina believes finding a new lady was an exciting chapter of his life.
He is looking for someone on ‘the right side of pretty’ and with a sense of humour.
“I don’t want a sheila with no teeth or pimples, I want someone who looks after themselves,” Mr Kozina.
He’s also particle to red heads.
Mr Kozina said joining the competition had been a great experience.
But he’s worried over how he could be perceived in the public eye.
“I normally say how I feel and I don’t want to say the wrong thing but it should be fun,” Mr Kozina said.
