A POSTIE had a lucky escape in Mount Evelyn last Thursday when his mail truck was t-boned and rolled onto its side.
Mooroolbark police Leading Senior Constable Russell Menzies said the Australia Post driver was travelling along Clegg Road, near Bailey Road, towards Mount Evelyn about 5.15pm when a car stopped in front of him to make a right turn.
His brakes locked up on the wet road as he tried to stop. He swerved to avoid a collision, placing the mail truck in the path of an oncoming white van.
An Australia Post spokesperson said the driver was not injured in the accident and all mail in the vehicle was recovered and delivered as scheduled.
The 33-year-old driver of the white van suffered neck and back pain. Paramedics drove him to Maroondah Hospital in a stable condition.
