NEW Tecoma business AudioLogic Hearing Services is an independent hearing clinic offering hearing assessments to both adults and children.
Owner Michelle Pasinati is an audiologist with a masters degree in clinical audiology and a full membership in the Audiological Society of Australia (ASA).
She has 10 years’ experience assessing and managing hearing impairment of patients both in Australia and overseas.
Ms Pasinati started Tecoma-based AudioLogic in July.
“We identified the need for an independent audiologist to provide ethical and professional care to the community,” she said.
AudioLogic set out to increase public awareness of hearing loss in the area.
“Hearing loss is the greatest disability in Australia, with approximately 60 per cent of people aged 60 and over having a significant hearing loss,” Ms Pasinati said.
“However, hearing loss is no longer just a disability of the elderly. Approximately 15 per cent of baby boomers aged 41-59 years of age have it too.”
Ms Pasinati said the effects of hearing loss are not felt by the impaired person alone.
“Hearing loss also has a significant impact on family, friends and co-workers. Difficult communication, misunderstandings and the frequent need to repeat what is said can be frustrating for everyone involved.”
AudioLogic has fully digital hearing devices and custom earplugs on offer for musicians, swimmers, and industry specialists. Ms Pasinati is also accredited to provide free hearing aids to eligible pensioners, veterans card holders and successful WorkCover claimants.
AudioLogic Hearing Services is at 1532 Burwood Highway, Tecoma. Readers can call 9754 4162 for more information.
