GTS Gas Automotive in Mount Evelyn provides servicing, tuning and general mechanical maintenance on top of its specialist LPG conversion service.
Proprietor George Gilchrist began his career in the LPG installation industry 26 years ago at Seville after moving from the far north-eastern New South Wales town of Murwillumbah.
He started working on cars before a brief career change saw him make the switch to repairing earth moving equipment.
Mr Gilchrist’s love of automobiles didn’t dissipate, however, and he made the switch back.
His return to the car industry took him overseas to Papua New Guinea and Africa before making his way back home.
Mr Gilchrist started the LPG conversion arm of his business in 1986 with the installation of some very basic equipment but he said the industry’s technology has advanced markedly over recent years.
“With the introduction of hi-tech vapour injection equipment it has been a very exciting industry to be involved in,” he said. GTS Gas Automotive’s policy is honesty and fairness to all customers. Customers can rest assured they will get honest, sound quotes on their repairs.
The staff at GTS is renowned for their friendly approach to customer service.
“In fact, many of our customers have become good friends,” Mr Gilchrist said.
LPG has two main advantages over other forms of fuel according to Mr Gilchrist.
“It’s just so gentle on both the environment and the hip pocket,” he said.
