EVERY Saturday morning in the eucalypt forest, with the dawn heralded by the kookaburras, the St Andrews Community Market comes together for another day.
The market is known for its colour and vibrancy, earthy culture, delightful fresh smells and flavours and the exciting array of special gifts and treasures.
And, of course, the unique sounds, as musicians gather and meet and share their passions.
Situated a short distance from Melbourne in the foothills of the Yarra Ranges, the market is an easy and pleasant drive – with the reward of tasty foods and drinks at the end.
Visitors can do their weekly shopping for fresh vegies, eggs, preserves and great breads, and replenish the bathroom with beautiful handmade soaps and skin care products.
They can buy the lemon tree they’ve been promising the garden, and the garden tools as well.
Then there are cakes, flowers, jams, nuts, dried fruit, didgeridoos, knitted caps and scarves, gift cards, massages, crystals, hardware, cushions, finger puppets, jewellery and more jewellery, pottery and art.
And that is barely scratching the surface of the range of delights for visitors to discover.
On Saturday 2 October the market will have a health and wellbeing festival with a focus on demonstrations, information, training and participation activities – plus more from within the local community.
Visitors can enjoy a treatment or learn more about massage, shiatsu, aromatherapy, tai chi, natural skin care, meditation, yoga, qi gong, kinesiology, women’s health products, LightWave patches and much more.
Rain, hail or shine, St Andrews Community Market is open from 8am to 2pm. It is only closed on days of total fire ban.
