Cardinia Shire is getting behind the recycling push.
It starts from Monday 15 November with new allocated zones.
Collections are timed to encourage early bushfire preparations and property clean-ups.
Mayor Graeme Legge said every household would receive a map with detailed collection information by early November.
“This collection plays an important part in making the shire fire ready,” he said.
Hard and green waste should only be placed out on the nature strip the weekend before allocated collection week. Residents can visit www.cardinia.vic.gov.au to find out their zone.
Information about what can and can not be placed out for collection is also available online.
The council will hold a free e-waste day on Saturday 13 November from 9am to 1pm at the Purton Road Depot, Pakenham.
E-waste includes electronic items such as computers, TVs, phones, toasters and other electrical goods.
Residents are encouraged to take electronic items such as computer systems, televisions, radios, audio-visual equipment, toasters, hair dryers, microwaves, blenders and other electrical goods for recycling.
The council is taking every opportunity to reduce waste going to landfill, especially items with toxic components and valuable metals.
Proof of residency is required on the day.
Visit the council’s website or call 1300 787 624 for more information.
