Late night for last minute- Bev Beazley and Judy Thornburn get ready for a big night of Christmas shopping in Monbulk. 56849

MONBULK Business Network last year launched a successful late night shopping event in Monbulk to give an economic boost to businesses in the town.
“It was great fun and there was an atmosphere of carnival in town,” committee member Liz Dumps said.
This year the MBN is proposing an even bigger and better event, drawing on all businesses within the Monbulk area and involving the local schools, police and fire brigade for a monster shopping night on Friday 26 November from 5pm to 9pm.
“Just think – not just a boost for our local businesses, but a chance for locals to do their Christmas shopping and grab a bargain locally without having to go off the mountain!” Liz said.
Many of the businesses have again donated gifts and vouchers for a monster raffle.
“In fact so many wonderful prizes that there will be three raffle draws on the evening,” she said.
Raffle tickets are free in the participating outlets when shoppers make a purchase. The outlets will have signs in their front window.
Many of the businesses will be offering specials on the night – bargains for Christmas presents and for all the little extras needed for the festive season. There will also be food available from the many cafes and restaurants in town.
So far three schools have signed up to entertain shoppers, as well as other local artists and entertainers who will strut their stuff on the evening.
Businesses not located on Main Road will organise stalls on the shopfront areas and on the block next to St George’s Church.
As a first this year, children will be able to visit Santa’s Grotto – Santa has taken the evening off and is bringing some elves with him to meet the Monbulk children.
This will be a good opportunity for families to have a photo of their child taken with Santa.
“Often when communities come together it is in response to a tragedy, so this Merry Monbulk Christmas Late Night Shopping Event is an opportunity for the community to get together and have some fun,” Liz said.
“Come to Monbulk – the little town with the big heart.”
