Snake bites 10-year-old

A BOY,10, was taken to Dandenong Hospital after being bitten by a snake in Lysterfield Park about midday on Tuesday.
The boy was riding his bike near Cloverdale Track in Lysterfield Park with his father when he was bitten by the snake.
Life support paramedics and a single responder attended the scene. Advanced life support paramedic Jeff Edwards said the boy felt a scratch on his leg.
“When they stopped, he looked down and saw what appeared to be two small puncture wounds. He didn’t see what caused the marks,” Mr Edwards said. “His father did everything right. He had a first aid kit and applied a bandage over the wound. He also kept the boy still. It’s important if someone suffers a snake bite not to move them, but to bring help to them.”
He was taken to Dandenong Hospital in a stable condition. A spokesperson for Southern Health confirmed that the boy was bitten by a snake.
