There will be no cuts says hospital

SOUTHERN Health has denied claims there will be nursing cuts at Casey Hospital.
Narre Warren MP Judith Graley said nurses may lose their position at Casey Hospital amid claims the State Government plans to cut nursing jobs across the state.
Ms Graley said recent revelations of the State Government’s secret plan to cut the number of nurses, which appeared in The Sunday Age, represents a double-blow for Casey Hospital.
“One year after the last state election, the Baillieu Government is yet to commit to more beds for Casey Hospital,” she said.
“And we now find out about the Baillieu Government’s plan to cut the number of nurses from Victorian hospitals – this is an absolute disgrace.”
But spokesperson for Southern Health Suzana Talevski said there were no plans to cut nursing jobs.
“There have not been any nurse job cuts at Casey Hospital nor are we planning on any,” Ms Talevski said.
Despite the claims, Ms Graley said that Casey Hospital needs more beds and nurses.
“Casey is one of the fastest growing communities in Victoria and our local hospital needs to keep expanding,” she said.
“We need more beds and more nurses, not less.”
