A CRANBOURNE woman who lost her brother to suicide has urged families with similar tragedies to attend a local support group.
Julie Bendall’s brother Jeffrie Reardon committed suicide in 2000. The tragedy inspired her to complete training in suicide intervention and prevention and led her to run support groups for those bereaved by suicide.
She also recently completed a 15-day walk from Adelaide to Cranbourne in April to raise awareness of suicide and funds which will go towards training people to better deal with those at risk of suicide and depression.
Ms Bendall said she wanted to remind families experiencing loss from suicide that they did not have to suffer alone.
A support group meets on the first and third Tuesday of every month at 9/50 Station Street in Cranbourne.
