RESIDENTS are being asked to keep their trees trim and keep branches from overhanging onto footpaths.
Yarra Ranges Council mayor Graham Warren said it was a good way for residents to do their bit for pedestrian safety, especially for those with a disability who need a clear path.
“It may not be something you’ve ever thought of before, but many people rely on footpaths each day to get to school or to the shops,” he said.
“We don’t want people having to duck to avoid branches or getting poked in the eye.
“It is essential we support people with limited mobility by not making their journey more hazardous. It just takes a few minutes to trim a tree, but it makes a world of difference to pedestrians.”
