MELBA Support Services in Mount Evelyn is inviting people to be part of its 40th anniversary celebrations this year.
Residents and businesses can be part of the special occasion through many ways, including becoming a partner, attending the anniversary dinner, supporting its community Christmas fair event and contributing to its historical document.
CEO Glenn Foard said Melba’s 40th birthday was an important celebration of everything the organisation has achieved.
“Since its establishment, Melba has grown and has supported hundreds of individuals from the local community over four decades,” he said.
“Its reputation as a progressive, innovative disability support provider has been well-earned.”
The organisation is kicking off celebrations with a partner program to garner more support for disabled people.
It is calling for individuals and businesses to contribute to the worthy cause through a donation of $200 for individuals and $1000 for businesses.
Mr Foard encouraged everyone who has been a part of Melba or who would like to support Melba’s ongoing work to become a Ruby Anniversary partner.
“Melba’s 40th birthday is not just a celebration of the organisation’s past achievements, it is also an opportunity to build on the past and plan for the future,” he said.
“We are determined to continue providing high quality support to people with disabilities for the next 40 years and beyond,” Mr Foard said.
Other ways to get involved include attending the celebration dinner at Yarra Valley Racing in Yarra Glen on Saturday 13 October, or submitting information or pictures to be put into a historical piece which documents the journey, milestones and the future of Melba.
Mr Foard said AFL coach and Carlton Football Club great Brett Ratten is an ambassador for Melba’s Ruby anniversary and will speak at the birthday dinner.
Those who would like to become a partner, attend the birthday dinner or contribute to Melba’s fundraising efforts, can contact community relations and development manager Lisa Glassborow on 0402 302 477.
