A KANGAROO in the main street of Emerald is not something you see every day.
SO when a local version of Skippy bounded towards a group of people on the Emerald Primary School oval you could understand the excitement of those who witnessed it jumping across the oval down the lane towards the Cafe Marte and that part of town.
Emerald Primary School Office Manager Polly Smith called wildlife services who turned up promptly to track down the eastern kangaroo.
Ron, the school’s legendary crossing officer was deeply concerned for the animal.
“A town is no place for a kangaroo – I’m worried that it will bound across the road and get hit by a car,” he said.
