EMERALD residents can de-clutter their homes of unwanted electronic items with a free drop-off e-waste recycling day to be held by Cardinia Shire Council this week.
The drop-off will be held at Gemco Players Community Theatre, 19 Kilvington Drive in Emerald on Saturday 16 March from 9am to 1pm.
Battery-operated items or those with an electrical cord can be deposited, including computers, televisions, radios, toasters and vacuum cleaners.
Whitegoods cannot be accepted and should, instead, be left out at the council’s next hard waste collection.
“Depositing goods as e-waste is great for the environment, with about 95 per cent of the material recovered being used to create other products,” Mayor Brett Owen said.
For dates and details of all council’s waste collections, visit the council’s event calendar on its website or call 1300 787 624.
