CARDINIA Shire hills residents turned out in droves for services at Gembrook, Cockatoo and Emerald on Anzac Day. RUSSELL BENNETT took in the atmosphere at the Gembrook dawn service – where RSL president Sgt Calvin Hill proudly saw more than 200 people at the Redwood Road cenotaph before dawn even broke; and the Emerald RSL service where Garry Jensen spoke of a parent’s anguish about having a son serve in Afghanistan, and Mark Fenby sang a spine-tingling rendition of the John Williamson anthem ‘True Blue’ while an honour roll of the Afghanistan fallen was presented.
