THE Upwey community gathered for the grand opening of the new Upwey Doctors clinic last month.
There was a range of entertainment on the day, with a free sausage sizzle, a fire engine display, live music by Upwey High School students, face painting, Henna and an animal farm.
More than 300 people enjoyed the festivities in Main Street and also had the chance to check out the new clinic and its facilities.
Official guests included La Trobe MP Laura Smyth, who cut the ribbon, Yarra Ranges councillor Noel Cliff and local school principals.
Upwey Community Bank chairman Peter Mark was the MC for the day.
Doctor Zac Varghese said it was a fantastic day.
“The weather was drizzly and cloudy and could have attracted more people if we had a bit more of a dry day,” he said.
“Nevertheless we had a great turnout and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day and the facilities they would now have.”
