OLINDA Fire Brigade volunteers will be giving each Olinda household a red bucket filled with information to promote fire safety in the coming weeks.
The brigade is also seeking donations from the public, which will be vital in assisting firefighters in better helping the community.
Organiser Elissa Jans said the aim was to encourage residents to think about fire and bushfire safety, including having a working smoke alarm and not leaving cooking unattended in the kitchen, whenever they used the bucket.
“If every one of our residents read it, it would be great,” she said.
“We have a letter which prompts questions about things they should be asking about home fire safety and bushfire, making sure they’re aware of the things they need to be considering.”
The brigade is also looking for new members, both operational day time and non-operational members for various roles including community education, fundraising, support and gardening.
Anyone interested can call the duty officer on 0407 455 914.
