Community rallies around

WHEN diagnosed with terminal cancer, there’s not much to look forward to.
But for one mother of three battling the illness, the Lilydale community has come together to raise money so she can create some new memories with her family.
Tracey Clark was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer 18 months ago and, despite her never give up spirit, she was told the cancer had spread to her brain less than a month ago.
Her friend Belinda Fletcher got to work getting a team of mums together to organise a fundraiser held on Friday night.
And it was perfect timing, with Tracey taken back to hospital on Monday.
“We just wanted to do something to help,” Ms Fletcher said.
“Something to make her life easier.”
Ms Fletcher said the fundraiser aimed to make things financially easier for Ms Clarke and her family.
“I said to her that we could be adults and pay bills,” she said.
“Or she could spend the money making memories.”
A wonderful memory for Tracey and her family would have been arriving to the function, held at Fergussons Winery in Dixons Creek by stretched limo.
“The kids just loved it,” Ms Fletcher said.
Those who attended had the chance to take part in silent auctions and raffles, and win prizes including a helicopter flight and even tickets to see One Direction in concert.
Ms Fletcher said it was a great night, but a few items were yet to be sold, and an online auction would be held over the next few weeks.
