AN ELDERLY man has died after what police believe was a hit and run in Mount Evelyn on Sunday.
A passerby discovered the 82-year-old man’s body on Birmingham Road at about 7.30am.
Investigators believe the man was hit by a car while crossing at the south side of the road.
A 60-year-old Croydon man made contact with police later late on Sunday and is currently assisting them with their inquiries.
He was interviewed and released pending summons.
Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit are still investigating the incident.
