IRISH 4BBB was the game last Saturday at Emerald Golf Club last Saturday.
It is hoped that, with the busy political correctness police on the warpath, that nobody is offended by the use of the name. It is where pairs multiply their stableford scores on each hole to get a total.
With a huge score in mind, Dean Shannon and Steve Town set about the task with a will to post a big score. In the end, with Shannon’s 44 points and Town’s 34, a massive 84 points were accumulated. This was easily enough for victory.
In second place were Andrew Cutting and Dennis Fuller with 75. This was on the back of Cutting’s 5 over par round for 41 points and Fuller’s meagre assistance with 34.
Peter Clowes was nearest on the seventh and then Dean Shannon hogged the limelight completely to be nearest on the 12th the 13th and he even had the barefaced effrontery to pocket the pro pin dosh on the 18th.
Wednesday’s Orderly and Facile Golf (OFG) was a stableford competition where all were vying to get their hands on the Hugh Hamilton Black Sheep wine.
The thirstiest must have been Dennis Fuller (14) who won the prize with 42 points. There were a gaggle of golfer three points back in second place. These included Leigh Piggott, Bob Kennedy, Ken Sumsion and Ken Hill.
Next Saturday, when there is a small sporting event happening at the MCG, a guest day has been scheduled at Royal Emerald. If you would like to play a round of golf on the cheap, contact any member you know or simply rock up with your clubs in one hand and a sense of the ridiculous in your soul.
