THE second round of the club championships took place at Emerald Golf Course last Saturday with the place looking a treat.
It was expected that some would thrive but as it turned out there was severe competition for the leader’s spot in A Grade with Mark Starick (12) making a charge up the leaders’ board with 76 off the beater for a total of 161.
This allowed him to close in on Ryan Aitken (10) but still be a couple of shots behind where he was joined by Peter Stevens (10) who had a few problems but still managed to be in touch.
Andrew Cutting (10) was three back from them on 164.
In B Grade, Leigh Morison (20) is causing a stir to be on 170, one shot ahead of the second placed player in Dean Aitken (16) and eight shots ahead of the third placed flogger, Dave Jennings (22) on 179.
C Grade sees Peter Glasscock (25) beautifully placed after two solid rounds to be on 191 with Dave Aitken (27) on 198 and Brian McCoy (32) on 213.
The handicap race in A Grade sees Starick on 137, Ryan Aitken on 139 and Stevens 141.
B Grade has Morison on 130, Jennings 135 and Dean Aitken 139.
Glasscock leads C Grade with 141 from Dave Aitken 144 and McCoy 146.
The daily comp saw Morison win over-all and B Grade with a net 63, Starick in A Grade with 64 and Dave Aitken in C Grade with 68.
Jennings was nearest the pin on the 4th, Steve Town the 7th, Andrew Cutting the 12th and the pro pin 18th and Phillip Rundle was nearest on the 13th.
On Wednesday when the Old and Feeble Golfers (OFG) hit the course it was Moss Fuller who seized the chance to score well in the stroke event when he came in with a net 64 to win from Geoff Whittaker on 68.
Next Saturday is the final round and it seems pretty evident that the winners of each grade will come from the current leaders.
