MISSY has been found!
This was the moment, as captured by the Mail, when missing horse Missy was reunited with her loving owner, Cockatoo’s Gladys Ramsay after her six-day ordeal.
Emotions were running high in the Toolangi State Forest last Friday morning as Missy was delivered into the arms of Ms Ramsay, who burst into tears at the sight of her beloved horse.
Horseman Michael Whitehead led the horse out of the scrub, to cheers from a surrounding search group, where she was fed some hard-earned carrots by her emotional owner.
Mr Whitehead slept in the Toolangi State Forest on Thursday night after tracking Missy, and found her tracks along a stream, where he found her the following morning.
Gladys and her boyfriend Robert Finn, who helped to coordinate search parties, were ecstatic and thankful for the community response, which saw over 1300 people like the “Find Toolangi Missy” page on Facebook and around 40 people assist with the search effort.
Gladys said Missy would be getting some rest and relaxation, and a vet to assess Missy’s health after six days of being lost in the forest.
“It’s good to have a happy ending to this,” she said.
