Discover Christmas

By Rebecca Bills

FOR 20 years Discovery Church has hosted memorable carols.

And this year the community carols event is the largest in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
Hosting headline act Michael Paynter to lead the Christmas cheer at the free event Creative Pastor at Discovery Church Greg Attwells said this is the first Discovery carols that he will be overseeing.
Mr Attwells said 2013 has been Mr Paynter’s biggest year yet as he successfully progressed to the final four of “Team Joel” on the Australian TV Show The Voice.
He regularly received high praise from all four celebrity coaches who noted his stellar voice and consistent work ethic,” he said.
“We have a lot of ‘in-house” talent at Discovery Church and when you add to that talent someone of Michael’s calibre it really sets up this year’s Carols to be our best one yet.”
This year, the carols event at Discovery Church is call ‘Come Let Us Adore Him,following the nativity story of the wise men that left their homes and followed a star to find the Messiah.
Mr Attwells said at Discovery Church they do their best to make the experience for visitors just as accessible and inspirational as someone who have been coming for decades.
“This is a community carols event and visitors can expect a carnival experience around our grounds and a magical experience during our carols service.
“I hear rumours that Santa is also paying a visit during the service.”
Local talent including Melissa McGregor, Laura Want, Matt Destry, Luke Inglis and Rachael White are just a few of the other performers that will be showcased at the event.
This free event is on Sunday 22 December at 4pm, 6pm and 8pm at Discovery Church, 89 Monbulk Road, Mount Evelyn.
Make sure you arrive early to secure a seat.
