Athletes get ready for championships

YARRA Ranges Athletics athletes completed their preparations for the upcoming State Little Athletics Championships on the weekend.
The club has its largest contingent for many years qualified for the championships to be held at Lakeside Stadium this weekend.
Athletes made the most of calm conditions at the last round of club athletics for the year – a ‘choose your own event day’.
The aim of the day is to create personal bests with nine athletes going a bit further and breaking club records.
If the number of club records broken over the past three weeks is any indication it shows the athletes are in excellent shape and ready to give their best at the state championships.
The seniors had the week off after a busy last few weeks.
The final round of AV shield competition is this Thursday at Ringwood.
Online entries and are now open for the fun run around the parklands of Lillydale Lake on Sunday 6 April.
The course takes competitors away from the normal lake trail into some of the more picturesque areas of the parklands making excellent use of the natural features throughout the park.
