IN FORTY FIVE years living near a busy roundabout – they’ve had two cars land in their front yard within three months of each other.
Peter Raaymakers and his wife Trudy were again surprised on Friday morning when they noticed a deep red BMW in their front yard.
“I didn’t notice anything until I woke up this morning,” Mr Raaymakers said.
“I happened to look outside while making breakfast and I thought what is that doing there.
“The funny thing is that the same thing happened a couple of months ago – I thought it couldn’t happen again.”
He called triple zero and police arrived shortly after.
Sergeant Craig West said that police were called to the Belgrave-Hallam Road address not long after 9am and found an abandoned car crashed into the front yard.
Owner of the property Peter Raaymakers said it was the second time in three months that a car had driven through his front fence.
“Last time the girl lost control on the corner, but this time I looked through the window and thought, well, that’s a nice car,” he said.
“We didn’t hear it crash, but that’s probably because it is a busy road – but the guy, he locked the car and left it here.
“We’re lucky we have the brick fence here, otherwise who knows what could have happened.”
Sgt West said that police were able to find the driver’s address through his licence plate and registration.
The P-plate driver, from Dandenong, is expected to be interviewed in relation to the crash.
