IT WAS a location change at the Mount Evelyn Biggest Morning Tea that saw participants enjoy the morning even more.
After the last few that were hosted outside near Morrision House, this year the Mount Evelyn Chamber of Commerce decided to host the event in the warmth of the Mount Evelyn Scout Hall.
Event organiser and chamber member Gary Freeman said all who attended last Thursday’s morning tea said they really loved it.
“There were 200 serves of scones and they were all gone by the end,” he said.
“It was only standing room in the hall – it really was a good response from the public.
“A few stallholders came along and set up inside the hall, and it was really good for everyone to get together and raise money for a great cause.”
Mount Evelyn Chamber of Commerce president Kathie Freeman said despite not raising as much money as they did last year, however over $1000 was still raised to go towards cancer research.
“We are really happy with the turnout of over 200 people,” she said.
“People didn’t just come and go like they have in past years when it was held outside, this year they sat down and enjoyed each other company.
“There have been a lot of comments about how much people enjoyed this year’s event.”
Mrs Freeman said all the proceeds from the sales of raffle tickets and the morning tea would be going to the Cancer Council.
“All the scones were baked by Ranges Tech and the ingredients and produce as well as the raffle prizes donated by local businesses,” she said.
