Cash to keep on truckin’

By REBECCA BILLS

EVELYN MP Christine Fyffe personally called the Lilydale SES station controller Col Matheson last week to say his organisation had received a $100,000 grant.
Lilydale SES team leaders Louise Andrews told the Mail that the funding will be used to replace and fit out a new Road Rescue Support vehicle and that members were pleased that Mrs Fyffe had personally called to share the news.
“This will means we will have a set up for our secondary road rescues which means we will be able to take out more manpower to rescues, carry more equipment and have more up-to-date equipment,” she said.
“We’ve always tried to maintain a very high skill level and vehicle unit so this will help us immensely.
“We are absolutely ecstatic.”
Mrs Fyffe said she is very pleased that Lilydale SES has received the grant which will enhance its emergency response capability.
“I congratulate every member of the Lilydale SES for their commitment to community protection,” she said.
“The Napthine Government is committed to providing our emergency services with the resources and equipment they need to keep Victorians safe and support stronger local communities.”
The Lilydale SES will be opening its doors to the public on Wednesday 30 July from 7.30pm.
“Hopefully we can get some new members but this is a chance for the community to come down to station at Nelson Road and have a look to see what we do,” Ms Andrews said.
