Wallowing in the mud

IT WAS a busy day at Monbulk football ground, with six games worked out in muddy conditions. The Under 9s kicked off the day against South Belgrave and put on a clinic for those watching their skills.
Mika Bloom led the way with a huge long goal in the first minute to get things started and the rest of the team gelled for their best team effort for the year. The Under 10s also followed up with taking a positive attitude into their game, and it showed in the play. Under 11s played against one of the top sides Upwey Tecoma and the tackling, pressure and 1 per centre paid off for an upset win with Jessie Turner and Natasha Decker leading the way. Under 12s continued on their way to the finals with a commanding win against Wandin. The Under 14s were up against a much taller and stronger Wandin side and fought hard but were beaten by a better side on the day. Under 16s played against the higher ranked Healesville side and battled on manfully for three quarters in an open flowing game to be run over in the last quarter.
