THE birds were singing, the sun was shining and all was well at Emerald Golf Club last Saturday when the member trundled up for a gentle round of stableford in champion conditions.
Peter Glasscock (16) chose this day to star as he came in with 38 points to win B Grade and over-all. A Grade saw Broc Reynolds (15) as the winner when he played to his handicap for 36 points.
Of the great unwashed only Peter Clowes (17) got near his handicap for 35 points followed by absolutely nobody else of distinction.
Mike Litchfield picked up the Stockdale and Leggo prize for being nearest the pin on the 4th, Travis Gerbes the 7th and 12th, Steve Town the 13th and Clowes pocketed the pro pin dosh on the 18th, again.
The ladies’ event saw a runaway winner in Brianna McCoy who led from go to woe by some distance from Gracie White.
Wednesday’s Over-rated and Feeble Golf (OFG) was stableford event and Peter Clowes (15) rolled out a great round for 40 points to win on a knockout. Next were Ben Balfour (18) and Graeme Fergus (22), both with 37.
Next week is a par event, so I suspect a large contingent will rock up and not want to miss out on the fun presented by this format.
