Weird, wild summer fun

By MARLENE MILLOTT

SUMMER holidays are on the horizon and the Yarra Ranges Council has a full program of events to keep kids entertained during their time off.
Yarra Ranges Youth Services’ Summer of Fun school holidays program is open to kids and young people aged 12-25 years who live, work or study in the Yarra Ranges. The program offers a range of excursions and activities to help young people make the most of their free time.
The program includes heaps of fun things to do locally, as well as providing the opportunity to get out and enjoy what Melbourne has to offer.
Our top picks?
For just $5 young people can get up close with snakes, lizards, crocodiles and more on 7 January when the Animals of Oz crew visits Monbulk Living and Learning Centre.
On 18 January, young people can spend the day watching the world’s top tennis superstars battle it out at the Australian Open for $25.
Surf’s up on 20 January with an excursion to Phillip Island for sun, sand and surfing lessons for $30.
Transport to the activities is included in the ticket price.
The full program of events for the January holidays is available at the Yarra Ranges website, or by calling 9294 6716.
Bookings for these activities are essential and are open until 23 December, or until sold out.
