Ambo station protest

By KATHRYN BERMINGHAM

THE property on the site of the new Tecoma ambulance station has been demolished, amid talk that construction is about to begin.
The residential property was purchased by Ambulance Victoria in 2013, and plans were drawn up to the great dissatisfaction of residents.
Ambulance Victoria regional manager Cath Anderson said that the building should be in operation by the end of the year.
“We engaged with the local community and council as part of the planning and consultation process and made amendments to the building design based on the feedback we received.
“Ambulance Victoria paramedics expect to be operating from the new Belgrave branch by the end of 2015.”
But the planning and construction of the new branch has been surrounded by controversy and residents feel they have been misled on multiple issues regarding the station.
The Mail is currently investigating claims made to the residents by government sources that the approval for the depot has not been signed off, despite confirmation from Ambulance Victoria that construction will go ahead. Stay tuned to next week’s edition of The Mail for further information.
