SENIORS in the Yarra Ranges, it’s time to get out in the community and try something new.

Yarra Ranges Shire last week launched its Seniors Festival, which signalled the start of many great programs and sessions being offered in the region.

Now in its 33rd year, the Seniors Festival has become a favourite among many citizens.

This year’s theme is ‘Celebrating Community’.

The Seniors Festival offers a month-long program of events, including concerts, information expos, sporting opportunities and more.

Yarra Ranges Mayor, Cr Maria McCarthy, urged support for the event.

“This year’s festival highlights the significant contribution older Victorians make and the vital role they play in keeping a sense of community alive,” Cr McCarthy said.

“We acknowledge that in the Yarra Ranges, our older residents provide a positive contribution to our community by being volunteers, carers, mentors, valued and skilled employees, business owners and civic citizens.”
