Love for reading nurtured

By VICTORIA STONE-MEADOWS

MACCLESFIELD Primary School is the owner of the first ‘Little Free Library’ established in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Macclesfield primary students Patrick, 8, and Aaron, 8, take full advantage of the little free library and get involved in a love for reading. The Little Free Library is a worldwide movement to promote the love of reading and literacy at a community level. One of the parents designed and built the library from a recycled steel cabinet found under the school and customised and painted the cabinet as well as added a “green” roof that has plants growing on it.
