Boost for BART

By PETER DOUGLAS

EMERALD Lions have kindly sponsored the local SES unit’s extra communications system.
BART is a web-based system the local unit uses to share information about availability of crew and event directions.
This system has been on a free trial for the past two years but has now become a paid for service.
This doesn’t replace the pager system used by the emergency services but is a great supplement, says Emerald Unit Controller, Ben Owen.
“BART makes communication between members instantaneous rather than relying on telephone calls,” he said.
“The system uses smartphone technology to provide the service.”
The Lions have previously helped out the Emerald unit, helping to fund the four-wheel-drive ute.
For further information, contact Emerald unit controller Ben Owen on 0439 809 045.
