VICTORIA Police announced this morning a Healesville woman, 22, has been charged over a fatal crash in Mt Evelyn last year.
The crash occurred on Hereford Rd, Mt Evelyn, about 6.15pm on Tuesday, 6 October, 2015.
Former Healesville resident, Amber Beard, 16, was killed in the incident, while all eight other occupants – four men and four women – were injured and taken to various hospitals.
At the time, police said the believed a black 1998 Holden Commodore was travelling south on Hereford Rd when the driver lost control and crashed into a pole.
Detective Senior Sergeant Gerard Clanchy, of the Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU), said Ms Beard was sitting on the lap of a man, 26, who was in the passenger seat.
In the days following the crash, Amber’s Facebook page was flooded with messages from friends.
Victoria Police said detective from the MCIU have charged the woman, 22, with culpable driving, dangerous driving causing death, conduct endangering life, conduct endangering serious injury and other traffic matters.
The woman has been bailed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 11 March, this year.
